Hello all,

I was just wondering what everyone is using for ice cleats on your boots and if you’d recommend them?

I usually pick up a pair of cheap-o sub zero cleats at CT at the begging of the season as the spikes would get dull, but it looks like they have been discontinued.

Is anyone really happy with what they have?

Thanks

Best advice I can give is take your boots with you and try them on in the store......some of them you will have trouble fitting as most are to small with little adjustment.

Dollarama has ice cleats for sale @ $3.50. Beside wallyland on Yonge street.

Single strap velcro.

Worth the money.

I bought a large black rubber style that stretches to fit any boot, and although the cleats on the bottom aren’t super long or too aggressive they work beautifully. Also fit a boot from size 9-12, I’ve had them 2 seasons now. Think

I paid $10-$15 for them, and they have saved me from many spills.
I witnessed an older gentleman lay out on the ice from not having them, almost knocked himself out, and cut the back of his head really badly.
What an awful way to have a day cut short, cleats are a must on those days with no snow on the ice.

I’m usually a firm believer in you get what you pay for, but I have zero complaints about these. No straps, no mucking around trying to fit them on your boots just slip over top pull the heel up and away you go.

Google Lee Valley ( ice cleats) they have probably the best I've ever used. They are a bit pricey, but will last you many years to come. Mine are now 12 years old

I got tired of the cleats falling off and went with sheet metal screws. On third season and haven't lost any yet.

Just received these in the mail from Amazon. Haven't tried them yet but compared to what I've been using they look like they will work very well. They're not the cheapest option out there but I just got sick and tired of the cheap sets.

x2

light weight, comfortable to walk on, effective, cheap and don't slip off. The snow/ice doesn't stick and build up underneath the boot as well. Plus the only way you forget to bring them is if you forget to bring your boots.

X2. Available in a range of sizes. Properly sized and adjusted, they do not fall off, ever! I've also had mine for many years and they are now used by my grandson. Agreed, they are a bit pricey but, like most things from Lee Valley, you can expect top quality. You get what you pay for. None finer IMO; they are used by Postal Workers, EMS People and the like.

I bought the Icers offered by Lee Valley many years ago and found them to provide excellent traction. These are also very durable and the screws can be changed very easily if these wear down. I also have a pair of the Kahtoolas micro spikes that are outstanding. I walk my son's and daughter's dogs on very hilly terrain along a maze of old bush and farm trails behind their homes. The trails can be treacherous at times but the Micro Spikes function flawlessly and stay firmly in place even on the steepest of hills. Mountain Equip in the south end of Barrie carry the Kahtoola cleats.

My wife has the LV sandal type and they work well. Mine are the HT sandals and they come off. The LVs have a criss cross strap at the hell that mine don't.

What sort of glue do you use when you put screws directly into the boots?
