So having condensed everything to get rid of weight and bulk had to now pass loading it on my small Otter 2 bucket sled....I got it all to fit but had to go up....thinking of buying a sled that is 14 inches longer and 6 inches wider and 4 inches deeper so that I can lower the contents....thinking of the Pelican 60 or the Equinox Frontier.....with cover and runners priced at 130 to 135....and it still fits on the frame of the smitty sled I built. Anyway here is where I am at in fine tuning from ATV to walking.
The load below....could still put tubes to hold rods and get rid of bulky rod case.
On the good side.....the weight is good as it pulls excellent in regards to effort.

At this point, I believe it's called "personalizing". After a few trips, it'll become obvious what works and doesn't. ("......come to think of it?! I'm sure that's the wife's approach to marriage. Still "personalizing",... not attempting "perfecting"?!) Enjoy the sled.

Looks great! I was hauling around gear for myself, my son and my buddy today and can really appreciate how keeping thing as streamline and light as possible is a must, especially when you have to chase the bite.

Why don’t you forget the sled and just build a box exactly the size you want to sit on there? It probably wouldn’t be too heavy, you could even put a lid on hinges as your cover. I was thinking of doing that one day and even making the box lid padded so I could sit on it.
Nice set-up looks like it’s easy to set up and take down to move with ease. I have mine down to under 40 pounds includes sled. And one bag under 10 pounds. 15 mins to put up and take down. Just up graded to sled and otter x over lodge this year for when ice gets thicker.

Wood is to heavy.....I am thinking of my next smitty and will incorporate mostly aluminum....tube and strapping.....that is a summer project......winter is here need smitty now....lol.....thx for reply Iceman.

Yes Jam thats why I took on the project ....plus I have a bum knee to protect.
Newburg.....yup now comes the actual using of it and fine tuning....good luck with the wife....got one here just like that......actually while building this one collected some ideas to build the next one.....will use aluminum mostly....that will be a summer project at the trailer.

That is exactly what I did and it worked out very well. Made a hinged box to fit my exact required dimensions, fits auger, scoop, food, tackle, heater etc etc. Have a spot for Minnows in the bucket so it doesn’t fall over, made rod holders so I can carry 6 rigged rods on outside ready to go, also placed holders that are used to hold rods in position for jigging/deadsticking on ice. My pop up hut fits on top of the box for transport, and then we drag the box into the hut and we sit on it (me and my son), so no need for additional chairs. The box has it’s own integrated smitty sled skis so no need to transfer it on to a smitty for walking out. If I can find a pic I will post it. The best thing is that everything fits in quickly, no wasted time tying things down etc.

Just make the cross pieces longer then you can fit your auger and hut/rod case Beside the tub.

All good points guys, and an aluminum smitty sounds awesome man! I have a Rubbermaid container I throw on mine, maybe something like that would help you out for this season?

Was thinking that but have ordered the new tub.....with the tub I would have to build it up to get it above the snow so for this year will go as is.
This summer build a aluminum one that will fit right into the trailer hitch assembly.....I will be using a aluminum luggage carrier which I already have.....just have to mod it. Add some struts.....put skis under it.....plastic cardboard for the bottom......auger rack......take the two bolts out of the centre bar and pin it so that it will slide off the support bar that houses it into the trailer adapter......also some wheels that will mount so they stick out a 1/4 inch below the skis to get over the dry patches getting to the snow.
