Grocery store fish bait

Seems to me you'd be better off buying a bag of dead minnows from the bait shop- cheap- and salting them yourself. Put a couple dozen in a ziplock with a handful of kosher salt and into the freezer. For bigger dead baits T&T grocery chain has good variety if there's one near you.

I was going to buy a bag of smelt and add salt to them. Is there a difference between regular table salt and kosher salt when salting them?
