Finished college here in Barrie just recently, now my wife and I are moving to Sudbury for University at Laurentian. Does anyone have any info on the lakes in that area? are they good for 16` fiberglass boats and what not? or do I need to sell our fiberglass and buy an aluminum boat now?? lol I`ve been reading some info as to the kinds of fish and what not, but some first hand info would be nice.

wow, I waited and waited for some info on this lake,,,, since I never heard anything, I thought I guess I have to move up here and find out myself, which is just what I did. Not completely true, but I did move up here. Ramsey lake has huge small mouth,,, been out three times and got skunked once, but the small mouth I caught were an avg. 3 -4 lbs, awesome fighters and each time they danced on the water,,,, amazing,,, plus I never used my boat (its still in Barrie), fished from shore. Anyone happen to know of any other good lakes in the Sudbury vicinity????? I know theres tons of lakes in the area, just looking for abit of help,,,,,, or I`ll do this the hard way......again. Oh !!!! and by the way..... Bayliner,, could use your paintball gun here.... these dang loons are a pain,,,, they dive down and stay down for awhile,, makes me wonder if they`ll take my lures!!!!???? LOL,,,just kiddin

Hi my friend, I have fished Ramsey lake a few times in the winter as I have relatives in Sudbury. Lots of decent walleye in the lake. Also some huge northerns I'm told. Check out the app.ufindfish and they will put you on to some hotspots in the area. Enjoy your stay in Sudbury goodluck!!

You are in a whole other ballpark than us Southern Ontario fishers. That is gods country, so many lakes, so little time... Thanks for the fishing report, I only wish to fish up there where the water is clean and the lakes are full of fish..

just moved up here from Barrie Jerry, and spent many years on Simcoe,,,, I`m told there is approx. 127 lakes in the Sudbury area. First thing I noticed about Lake Ramsey,,,,, wow!!!!!! super clean water!!!! Hooked into some pike as well last week,,, off-shore avg. was 4-5 lbs, 16"-18", my boat would be nice!!!!! Ahhh another thing that was very cool, last Monday thanksgiving evening, watched the whole northern sky light up, green and red,,,, it truly felt like gods country watching the northern lights

4-5 lb pike, off-shore... Fantastic! If you need some intel on a lake up there, give me a shout, I have some files for the area. Also pick-up the local stocking list, very useful for ice fishing.
