BOQ, Hut operators

I was looking for some advice on hut operators in the area for when everything freezes up, any really good operators out this way? it isn't necessary to explain what species I am targeting...

I am looking to book with Sunset cabins for the 25th and 26th of January.. I am hoping that the dates i booked aren't too ambitious!

I don’t have any recommendations towards hut operators, but, one thing you might want to ask is what time they take you out and what time they pick you up, many years ago we rented huts from a Quinte operator and he didn’t get us out there till 830 and he picked us up at four, consequently we missed both the prime morning and evening bites

Oh, that's the worst. Granted the odd walleye may swim through, but prime times are key. There better be other fish around during the day, like perch and pike.

I went with an operator on the BOQ a few years back. Did not have the best experience. He really made us feel like he was just after our money. It was expensive and there wasn't even a washroom for my wife. Oh yes the fishing sucked too which can happen, but overall wouldn't go back. I would go try out sunset cabins, been there in the summer and they seem like really good people.

I'd be willing to take a few guys out on the bay. For free . Better off to fish with a local than a hut operator . Just pm me can show you some of the safer areas. On quinte it's not about the depth it's about being on a travel route the fish use .

You might want to give Sunset Cottages & Cabins in Northport a call. I've used them a few times in the last few yrs ...all with good results. We got on the ice by 6:30 - 7:00 am, off between 5:00:-6:00 pm. Good huts etc. I was happy with their service and fishing results.
BTW - I'm not affiliated with them in any way, just an honest appraisal.
