I have a bay that I catch a lot of pike in attached to lake o . It's fairly shallow and the water is pretty dirty. In the past few years I've done really well all seasons right up to ice up . Than I can't find any at all. Just wondering how you guys would fish this spot to hopefully get a pike through the ice . I also catch a lot of catfish in the bay would they be worth targeting through the ice . Thanks in advance any tips are appreciated.
Have a safe season gentleman

Big minnows or small suckers for big pike. Many caught while, 'dead sticking'. For bullhead catfish, worms on the bottom even under the ice.

if its the bay i think you're talking about what a s***show it's become. I used to slam huge pike in there with a deadstick and a fat minnow. At least 3-5 a trip. Now too many people and not enough pike lol!

Yep, too many people fishing and too many people name it on the open forums.
And it's no different than vulnerable small Northern lakes. I am fishing it only in the Open water season and release ALL the pike caught there.

I fish pike in some of the smaller lake O bays though none that I fish are particularly dirty. I prefer big dead baits under tip ups. Either Herring or something from the seafood counter. For a new area, I'd set two tip ups - one shallow and one deep if possible. Pop a hole between the two tip ups and drop down a lipless crankbait with the hooks removed. Rip the crankbait and keep an eye on your sonar while waiting for a flag to pop. If you have some action on the crankbait, pull a tip up and put the hooks back on the crankbait. A full day should tell you whether the fish are using the area or not.

As for catfish. I've caught them through the ice before but never targeted them.
