Nice trip Shank. I think I might make some time before my Nipissing trip and head up to Simcoe for some perch.

Get some rest for Nipissing. I'm thinking you depart tomorrow morning. Good luck up there Shank.

QUOTE (Longshank @ Jan 12, 2019 - 01:15 pm)
hi all.  got a call from Taj on Thursday night saying he had some huts out , so Steve and I headed up first thing Friday morning for a much needed ice outing and  perch fix

Got there at 7 am and out fishing before 8 am.....slow bite to start with but really heated up by 9.30 to noon....all sizes and all thru water column. tried 17 different lures for laughs and they all worked. we were in 23 fow. got 60 plus

minnows did as well, did not use any plastics..

Has a pod of herring slide under us for 15 minutes and that was fun

took home a decent feed of 9-11 inchers, but we got no really big ones which is ok, need that 1st ice fix.

packed it in by 3 and home at 7...……..tired

Thanks Taj, had a blast fishin with a friend and seeing you

So huts out around 1.5 k on 7-8 inches....there is a super rough patch of 100-200 yards of ice that yu must slow down to cross, after that its flat to the huts. beyond there is ice but cannot comment as we were not there. did see some machines out past us. she was making ice all day yesterday and will only get better

Sorry, but for whatever reason, we forgot to takes pics of fish....
, but you all have seen perch before

Was a good day and now packing to head to Nip tomorrow

Steve will add some more

gl to all heading out....play safe  Baby it was cold outside

Can you tell me how much snow ( if any) is on the ice out there ?

Also did you see any cars parking on the ice very close to shore?

This is the area where Taj picks up his costumers.

I’m out now in port bolster. Sitting in 21’ of water, 7-8” of good ice. Bite is very slow so far. Atvs and sleds are out.everyone be safe, it’s pretty rough in some spots on the way out.

Got back from PB near Caseys, there were about six cars parked near shore on ice. We were set up closer to shore than most huts, still about 18 feet of water and about a foot of ice. Slow and picky bite today but got a few keepers.Had an underwater camera and could see the fish approach pretty much any offering gingerly and sometimes just stare at it and then leave. Must have been the east wind. Afternoon was better than the morning but still slow. Great to be out though!
