Do the Ca rent huts ?

I would say I haven't seen any decline in bullhead's, just the opposite.. They are a nuisance and catch them everywhere..

I was maybe .7km off to the right of the parking lot trying to find the shallow spot over there (I believe it’s called the old river bed but I’m not entirely sure) and was fishing ~20-22 feet. I’ve heard most people only walk out about 50 feet and fish there, is it pike or perch territory? I’ve been trying to get on the perch but haven’t had any luck yet.

I used to fish belwood 10 years ago never had any crappie or walleye but did get alot of nice perch from right dead center infront of the dam as close as I could get to those orange bouys 😀😀😀 do they still sell minnows there as well? And when was the last time they stocked walleye there?

My understanding is grca have never stocked walleye in Bellwood, rumour has it they were introduced by an angler, probably Kawartha strain, possibly fry in bilge water even, expect thats how the gobies got in as well , i must be fishing different water than you Dave, because ive noticed a decline in bullheads, used to be very similar to conestoga lake as far as numbers, they are thick there, grca did stock Conestoga with walleye

I got out to Belwood today.

I took my snowmobile and entered at the CA. There was over 10in of ice everywhere I drilled.

Caught one small pike on a perch spoon.

Saw lots of nice jumbo perch on the aqua vu. But couldn’t get them to bite on minnows, plastics or spoons.

Also saw a nice walleye on the aqua vu. It came in to sniff my bait and took off.

that's cool, half the battle is knowing the fish are there. Very frustrating though

Looks like a good sized eye, nice to hear you’re seeing lots of perch, haven’t been able to make it out there myself yet

Visibility was relatively good with the camera?

Visibility was horrible today. Never used it on Belwood before, so I’m not sure if that’s normal.

When I fish lake simcoe I can see someone’s lure even if they’re in a different hut that is 20ft away.

Today I could barely see my jig with the camera 3ft away.

Regardless, the fish don’t mind the camera. They usually come in and bump it.

I could probably mount a couple treble hooks on the camera and I would hook up every outing.

Yes the jumbo perch numbers were reall strong from what I saw. I probabaly saw more perch around 10in then I saw that we’re under 7in.

They travelled in small schools of around 5-8 jumbos.

I’m surprised not to see more schools of small and aggressive perch that I’m
Used to on simcoe.

I also didn’t move around much.

It is so frustrating to see so many jumbos and not hook into them. But now I can’t go fishing with my camera.

Yes, i could see how that would be frustrating, im used to seeing that on my camera at simcoe, bigger perch seem to be very temperamental, belwood always seems to be a bit turbid, I wouldn’t expect to ever see it much clearer than you did in the photos you posted, thanks for the reply
