Belwood Lake

My in laws have a cottage there. Always done well on the walleye, mainly trolling at dusk, keep an eye out for the OPP boat especially on weekends

I’ve gotten my fair share of smallies too. But I would agree with the pike size declining. We always tangle with a few pan handles each outting.

To add to that, there will always be people fishing really close to the restaurant - it's not a deep lake really and fish will be caught there in 5-6ish FOW.

But there's also people usually fishing all the way across past the middle island in one area it's deeper water about 20 feet and I think that's the deepest part of the lake. Some ok spots in between but those are the 2 main areas.

Historically I have fished close and done decent but nothing crazy.

We tried out in the deeper water last time and didn't do so well but the one guy I was with landed a nice 30 inch pike that day in the deep water and I've heard when the bite is on, that's where you want to be for bigger perch and bonus walleye sometimes and the bigger pike in Puslinch - but anything over 30 inches for pike is considered pretty amazing there from my experience lol

Lots of hammer handle pike caught this year though that seemed to be the main thing happening, not so many perch I wonder if they are all being eaten!! lol

Just an add to JStubbs post about Puslinch.

The place is always loaded with hammer handle pike (12"-20") as JStubbs says, and they top out at 30".
A fish kill from a few years ago put a big dent in the perch, sunfish, crappie, and bullhead population but is working its way back.

The GRCA has shutdown Shades Mills for the year because of that jet fuel leak into Mill Creek. I expect Puslinch and Belwood will receive additional fishing pressure as a result.

The fish did die off a while back, and I was there the day of that spill, fishing puslinch LOL

OH and one last point!!

Once ice is solid enough there's a straight away where snowmobiles like to get a speed gun out and max out their sleds (In days of old anyways I remember driving my own old Indy down the stretch).

Keep this in mind apparently someone died crossing it before as in walking across where they run and the sledder didn't see them just after dusk so I heard.

Not sure if it still happens though!!! Something to keep in mind.

Are the CA renting huts on the lake? Do they sell minnows ?

No minnows no huts they stopped that few years ago I think
