A couple of us used them last year for perch and I'd never use them again, I'd say gimmick, there are much better ways to attract fish like chumming

My brother-in-law had one in his bag that his buddy gave him.. and it's still there because we all busted his chops for having it in the first place. I saw them at Walmart in droves and knew it was a gimmick.

QUOTE (xiaolu @ Jan 17, 2019 - 09:28 am)
The last time I heard of this so-called "bait cloud", it is basically you spend some cold and hard cash to get it, and then drop it down the water column, and it just scares any and all of fish down there who will run away from you as fast as they could.

I agree... Like many other products sold for fishing it is mostly a fisherman-bait

It's just a big effervescent ball to entertain kids...lol

I think I theory they should work ?
Although maybe too small and too expensive.

I’ve heard stories of people going out to Lake Erie Perch Grounds and “Dragging” the anchor for 50 yards to create a dust up. Then heading back to jig for perch. Sort of the same idea, kinda ? Lol.

Maybe it has to be deep so they don’t spook ?

I admit I am a sucker for these kind of "new" products. I bought some of these when they came out a few years ago. I was fishing a spot with a soft bottom, the bait ball just sunk into the mud. "There goes 5 bucks" I said. I agree that chum works and i want to try the jar of minnows this year. I have seen footage that the fish definitely interested.

Save your money. I used them last year ice fishing. Had some Perch down the hole, but a lot of dink’s. So decided to drop one down the hole to bring in the bigger perch, and it just scared all the Perch away from the hole, and they never came back. It also lights up your flasher like Xmas lights. Would never buy them again, or give any suggestions to anyone to purchase them.

I have tried these before and I cannot say if it worked or not. The idea seems cool but I think its affect will be dependent on whether or not the fish are hungry. If they're not hungry, I can't see how this will entice them to move to the area.

Got some as an xmas present last year. Tried one, lit my sonar up like a xmas tree and scared all the fish away (at least that was my excuse!). Threw the other ones in the package away.

Don't put it down your hole. Drill a hole outside your hut or a little bit away. I found they don't attract fish for the food/scent way it's advertised. I've seen lots of fish come check it out cause they want to see what all the commotion is about.

So put it away from yourself, fish will come for a look and hopefully see your lure off to the side. I only used them twice (got them for free at a tournament) and that what I noticed. Better for panfish, to me it's more of a gimmick for predator fish

Baitcloud is completely garbage and anyone on there prostaff or pushing this gimmick bath bomb are complete morons. Read any review. It does nothing. 9 times out of 10 it fails to work as it's supposed to. "Brings the fish to you" is there slogan. Should read buy this if your an idiot. They give more away then it sells. Check out the dust on them in any store. Sure am glad intelligent anglers know what works and whats cow manure in a pringles container!

I use salmon skein and it clouds pretty good for a few minutes. But lights up for flasher at the same time.
