Ok I’ve decided to take my 4 year old ice fishing for the first time when it’s more solid. I haven’t ice fished in over 20 years and it was at cooks bay (Lefroy I believe)and from what I’ve been reading on here there isn’t parking any more. Is there anywhere near Barrie where I can take him with easy acces. We are walking with sleds and pop up huts.. thanks kevin

Ok thanks guys...how far is the walk out if I’m hunting for pike? Google looked like it was a channel and you had a good distance to main lake..

Hey Kev_7680

I'm sorry if I'm way off but everyone who asks for lake access and parking spots is always bringing thier child. I only bring this up because you start with I want to bring the little guy fishing and now it's I'm hunting for pike........ Nothing turns a kid off more than walking around the lake and not catching anything all day. Pike can be hit or miss. Especially since you have not ice fishing in 20 years you would probably want to target something easier like perch.

The Barrie marina is a good starting point as another board member mentioned or try Lake Couchiching. Park at Tudhope park and walk out. The walk is easy and there is a mix of perch and pike that go through that area. It's a good starting point for someone taking their kid out and who has not been out in some years. Ice is also thicker and safer.

I thought I’d try dead bait while we were fishing for perch...idea was to keep him busy with perch and maybe get him a pike while we were there...
