just need help on what type of lures or bait works best! I have a spot that I know has steelies but we can't figure out what they want to eat this year! Anyone?

Are you close to the mouth of the lake ? Or up a river a ways ?
Close to a lake, I find spoons work the best, 2-3” Williams vertical jigged or others there’s a million. Or. Drop shot minnows, like 3” emerald shiners.
In the river up a ways, I find they’re more spooked due to shallow water and smaller presentations work best. Smaller spoons jigged slow, no weight spawn bags just off bottom. Or big black Cadis nymphs, just off bottom.
That’s what I use anyway. Seems to work for me. What have you been trying that’s not working ?

I have tried the mouth of a twin a few times, one line with roe just off of the bottom and another with a worm. Stand on shore they would always hit the roe bags but I’m always too slow to get the hook set

I'll try the spoons! I am just at a spot right before the mouth of the river about 300 feet from lake o.. I was using row bags like what my freinds smack em on and didn't get a thing. Could've been a bad day just wasn't sure if anyone else had experience with this because it's a pretty dangerous sport if you don't know where to go.

If there is current you can try a Quikfish. You'll want to have a good grip on the rod though as the strikes can be savage. Row bags or better yet skein is a always a good bet.
