I tried to get some sleep last night, but I’m like a kid knowing he’s going to Disney land the next day and didn’t get a wink.
Left early this morning, and was on the ice at bear point at 4:30. Wanted to make sure I got there with plenty of time to get free parking, and a prime spot away from the crowds and noise.

The last successful outting we fish main lake, shallow.
This outing my first hole was in 111ft of water, only issue. One blade on my hand auger is MESSED up, and the punch through 19” of ice took me 10 minutes a hole of pressing down as hard as I could. Lol
Decided that this is home base, setup a tipup.

Im jigging the second hole, with everything I’ve got in my tackle box.
They come in, and leave. No bites, tried all my new favourites. The old classics, new micro gear I grabbed in tungsten for them but still notta.
Still can’t believe not a sniff on the spreader this year, I’m really starting to see a pattern with old go too’s I used.

I think the fish are getting wise, and used too seeing spreaders/meegs.
I remember how many fish my tipdown setups have slayed in the past, but 16hrs on the water this year with not a bite.
I marked constantly until noon, then the fish would come in once and hour.
I chummed, banged bottom, but notta.
So decided instead of passing out in my hut, I’d pack up and give this one to the old girl.

Cannot believe how many shacks Donny has this year, really happy he’s got good ice this year super solid guy.
Solid ice, no open cracks from the shore to his huts. Billy goat hill has a rope, and I pulled myself and two sleds attached together, all the way up like an iron man challenge. But believe me when you get to the top your going to want to puke lmao.

Talked to at least 20 guys walking back to shore, and no one caught any fish. I heard that one of Donnie’s huts was smashing them but I always stay way away from that area to avoid noise and the crowds.
Here’s a couple pics from the day,

Just a small portion of hut city lmao
**** To add, I wanted to push up shallower and fish 40-60ft, but after struggling with that auger I didn’t have it in me. Lol

This year it’s been a season you have to work at, to land one. I guess the fish are getting smarter, and are getting one on us. Lol

Appreciate that Chevy, but won’t let one slow day down the confidence just yet. It didn’t help I pulled an all nighter, keeping your eyes glued to the finder all day was tough. Lol
Im glad the seasons still young, we all have lots of time to put them on the ice.

And ya DOM8TR, it’s 1-1 so far on simcoe for me. Lol

I have two pelican trek 45’s, when empty the stack flat together so great for transport. In reality I need the trek 60, would be nice to fit it all in one sled.

One of my sleds has hut, chair, auger, rod case, and odds and ends. Second sled has a 10lb propane tank, big buddy heater, and minnow bucket. Lol
My shoulders are feeling it today from doing the hand over hand that’s for sure lol
