We were just at Jackson's Point today and it was pretty seriously warm and wet. ATV travel was ok, but it was getting messy and slushy by the time we left. Everything was soaked by the time we got back to the car. Hope it tightens up for you.

Hi Gards:

I am currently on Snake Island and I was out in the channel area between the island and the mainland and out towards the pressure ridge all day on a quad.

The ice is currently solid and there were areas of wet slush along with 2-4 inches of water sitting on top of the ice all day. I suspect the wet conditions are partly due to the fact the temperature was above zero which melted the snow previously sitting on top of the ice plus it rained for the past 24 hours, however, the high winds in the forecast will help dry up some of the wet conditions.

Travel by quad will likely remain solid but with a wet layer on top of the ice so wear water proof boots and pants or bring a change of boots and clothes.

I can provide you with an update on the conditions in this area Monday evening by PM if you are interested - PM it u would like an update sent to your PM.

Please note there are several pressure ridges in the channel in the area by the permanent green fish huts. In fact, 2 pressure cracks opened up today while I was fishing in this area - so be extremely careful when travelling in this area cuz the conditions subject to change.

That's all for now, Nancy

Thks for the heads up on the lake conditions. I will probably fish around the snake island area. I won't be going near the pressure cracks as my boy is more important than crossing any pressure cracks. He just loves to fish so now with the hockey season winding down I want to take advantage of a day out on the ice.
