Well, they were either not around or weren't biting. We couldn't tell by looking down with our cameras because the water was very murky. However, as i was jigging a micro tube with my crappie/perch rod, with a 6lb leader, my rod buckled and i thought i had the meanest and mightiest of all crappies on my line, it was peeling line!!. Turns out it is a gator. Managed to ice it through my 6" wide 2' deep fishing hole. The line snapped as we pulled it out of the hole. Lucky for me, it didn't swallow the micro tube jig deep, hooked just at the edge of the mouth.
No crappies for the day, but I also managed a couple of perch as a side dressing. I actually had 1 more jumbo nearly 14" (didn't measure) that was bursting eggs from her orifice. That one went back to complete her spawning duty, hopefully she can.

Nice! I had one on @ Virginia Beach but wasn't able to get it out the hole. Pretty exciting on a perching/crappie rod, eh? Congrats.
Yes, it is exciting to catch one on a light rod/tackle. By the way you inspired me with your whitefish catches this winter, i wasn't as lucky or skilled as you are though, congrats...

Those grounds have lots of Pike at times. I find when the Pike and Largemouth bass roll in the crappy lay low. Some times they come back and sometimes a 50’ move or two you can find them again.

We moved about two-three times and called it quits when we had no action, and headed to perch grounds which proved to be more productive. Well at least for some of us...lol

Sounds like we had the same type of day, fished all around the crack from 10 to 15 feet, moved eight times, with only dink perch to show for it, Finally broke down and went north and salvaged a dozen good keepers each, I expect results in that area would be better through the night, was busy out there. Not quite 14” but still a pig, she made the trip home with me, most of the others we kept were 9-10 males
