Hi everyone,

Sunday we had an opportunity to get out for some bass. My fishing partner was working Wacky Worms and myself a crankbait. The trip started great with a couple of base and a Walleye within the first 30 minutes. Awesome.... but the trip was about to get better.

Fishing in about 4 feet of water, my buddy sets the hook and thinks he is snagged. Then his trag starts screaming. We were into something huge! On 8lbs mono we knew our odds weren't good. After 15 minutes of spinning the boat keeping the fish in front of us, maneuvering the rod around the Wakeboard tower and some rather colourful language along the way, she came up, Wacky Worm just on the side of her mouth.

We started freaking out. Our net seemed too small for this monster. First try, no luck, within 5 feet of the boat she took off. 2nd try, she stayed right on top and we had her.

My son in the picture flipped flopped between being terrified and beyond pumped. The screaming and fist pumps must have been contagious. (and he may have learned a few new words on the weekend)

Without question we got lucky. Still wild she hit a wacky worm.

Nice fish. Always a surprise when a biggun hits when you are going for a different species. It really makes up for all those other missed fish (at least for me).

Great story, great fish and priceless photo of your son. I'm sure the three of you will remember this for years to come. Congratulations

Funny story, great pic. I am sure you have planted the seed in another future muskie fisherman.

I've had several Musky on senkos, that's actually all I've ever caught them on besides a tiny one on a rebel crickhopper of all things... Always when I'm reeling in, none that big though nice job!

Great fish! All of my Musky have come of various random lures... wigglewart, twister tail and a rattle bait. Haven't caught one in over 15 years maybe it's about time.
