Slabs and Homemade bugs

Got out for a few hours Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with declining success each day. Sunday was decent, slow but steady with most every fish on the ice being good keepers.

Also made up a few of my own Simcoe Bug variations and had the fortune of icing a couple of slabs with one of my creations - so satisfying!

Beaverton shore access is holding up well. There's a bit of a hole in the middle of the ramp, solid in the morning, ATVs break through coming in, but lots of alternate access. I haven't been to Bolster this week, will check it out maybe tomorrow or Friday (decided to say screw work this week and try to fish most days at least for a few hours given they've finally decided to turn on).

Ice in general is holding up really well. One more weekend at least!

No clearcoat on the bugs? Don't they tear easily without it? The look good over wise.

Bugs like that do you jig them or tip them with something they look like similar to a simcoe bug which they have thanks for sharing

I cleared a few and left a couple bare (glued underneath in a few places). Curious to see the difference in how they hold up.

Here’s another. Inspired by the original.

They’re a versatile lure. I’ve used bugs before but found them a slow fish, not a lot of weight. Mine have 1/8th weights and not a lot of thread so they drop fast.

You can jig them, tip them and play nice a soft bites as well. Not a go to yet, but I see the potential and want to work with them more.
