Ive never fished Lake Huron for perch and was thinking about giving it a shot, Coming from north of Stratford and wondering where the best place to launch from
Any one care to share a bit of info to get me started?
would be fishing out of mu 16ft lund pike. Definitely will pay close attention to wind/weather for sure.
Thanks all!!

There is a ramp down the road South of the river, Maitland Valley marina I think, it comes up on google. You can get minnows at Goderich Bait and Tackle, at least you could in the past. Can also dip net in the marina with some success. Fishing is usually out a bit south of the river mouth in about 40' of water, you'll see the pack, should be some nets in that area as well. I haven't gone in a couple years but it can be good if you hit the right time. Nothing like Lake Huron perch! If you get out let us know how you did, thinking of getting out in the next week or 2 myself.

I haven’t been down that far but there is still a lot of pack ice in the lake, might be a while before it’s gone.

Today's satellite pic shows ice along the east shore almost to the south end of the lake.

I was in Goderich on Wednesday. There was pack ice about a little over a kilometer out into the lake, but finally some ice free blue water on the horizon. I think you are at least a couple of weeks away yet.
