Was out this am. Lots of good ice, but very few fish. Moved about 10 times from 29 ft to 9ft. Same deal at north end of lake. Used minnows and most of the jigs, baits in my tackle box. For me, this has been a very unproductive year on Couchiching. Going to move over to Simcoe tomorrow and try out from Beaverton.

Was able to get out for about 6 hours today - out from Tudhope. Very wet (about an inch of water on top) and slushy (about an inch of slush under the water). A couple of ATVs and 2 sleds running around. About a handful of people out fishing. Saw one small pike caught. We had only dink perch and a dink bluegill. Lots of fish marked on the sonar but bites were slow. We had about 10 minnows from a previous fishing trip and for sure the fish wanted them today. Minnows always got bites whereas plastics were much slower. We fished a couple fo spots where I did really well last year in late March (for both perch and pike) - what a difference a year makes. Access was still very good with snow-cone type granular snow on top of the ice from shore out about 30-50 yards then it's mostly water on top. Lots of water draining into holes making them larger and the water in them gunky.

Lots of good ice on cooch but that will soon be changing by the day. I went out for four hours yesterday on a snowmobile. There were a ton of fish where I posted up but the bite was non existent. We threw everything but the kitchen sink at them. A pike rolled through too but again, zero interest in feeding.

I was on out yesterday and only had a couple of bites and was able to get one pike. No slush and you can see that the ice closer to shore was softening up a bit.
