It has been my experience that if a bearing buddy flies off in transport it is the first sign off trouble . The cause has been the bearings heat up and popping the bearing buddy off. I would recommend new bearings. Just my observations pulling trailers over the years

Sounds like you have enough to do but there’s nothing worse than being hooked up and ready to go and your trailer lights aren’t working.

I find the problem is often in the vehicle rather than the trailer itself. If you tow with more than one vehicle check it as well.

I had light issues with my trailer after last winter. Turns out it was neither my vehicle or the lights on the trailer. Instead it was that somehow the snow/ice pileup managed to ruin my ground connection for the lights (while everything looked and felt tight, there was enough shift that it wasn't properly grounding). Was quite bizarre.

Blowing a bearing will not blow the bbuddy off, there is a large washer, lock nut and cotter pin on the outside of the bearing, the bearing can't get passed the washer. Bearing buddy coming off is because it was not seated properly during install or someone used it as a step to see or get in the boat and lodged it loose.

I said nothing about a bearing itself pushing buddy off. A bearing/hub heating up can/will cause a bearing buddy to come off. Seen this more than once. Then soon after bearing failure.

i change my lower unit oil before the first trip unless you did it before the winter

Starting today. Usually it's a fun time but I'm regretting this. I did not backup well this fall and my garage is an absolute disaster and that's just getting to get it out and fix things.

You guys gave me a good reminder of lots of things that I need to do but may have missed

Pulled the boat out today to clean the garage. Did a deep clean which was good. Got rid of tons of mouse chewed stuff, old stuff I dont need, old rods I finally admitted to my self that I'd never use again.
Tons of stuff. Feels good.
I sure was rusty trying to back the boat back into the garage though

Just did my first boat install. A g-force handle for the fortrex it took a whopping 3 minutes. It was one of those moments like....I'm an idiot why did I replace a piece of rope every year. Anyone use the th marine prop nut?

I have to back mine in the garage and it can be quite the challenge with only a ¾ inch on both sides..Then add some spectator's, oh boy..lol..a tip was given to me that I will pass on to you...
Get 2 2x2's ..6 to 8ft long. Or anything that will work to guide you in... Lay them outside the entrance of the garage to act as a guide.. This way you will know when your lined up and it will save your garage entrance and a lot less time pulling forward and backing up...
