After trout and whitefish closer came and went, I thought I was done ice fishing for the year and put away all my gear. Then I get a call from my grandfather asking me if I would want to go out for perch one more time. I thought sure! For one he wasn't able to go get a line wet this winter and two, I basically got skunked all winter. (I have the whitefish curse). He tells me that Taj with caseys will put us on fish, and man did he deliver the goods. We set out Thursday morning from port bolster and proceeded to travel 10km on the ice to the hot-spot. Where we were there was still a solid 2 feet of ice, starting to candle a bit on top with all the melt and rain. We got lines in fairly late at about 9:30-10:00. That said, it wasn't very long before we each had a respectable fish top-side. It didn't stop there however. We continued to have schools move through all day and even while packing up I added another one to the pile. A great time was had by all. The fish fillets are patiently awaiting taco day in the freezer. Can't say enough good things about Taj, always friendly and knows where the fish are. What more could you want from an operator?

Here is the man, the legend Thorahguy holding up a couple of simcoes finest

And the obligatory sink shot of the tacos in their unrefined form.

Very nice fish congratulations!
I have been searching but no luck ...4 outings over the last two weeks on Cooks Bay in all different depths and lots of dinks only.
Can you/anyone tell me the depth the Jumbos can be found in now?
Thank you

Great catch! Grandpa looks very happy! I am going to replace my broken ice rod today in case I get itchy tomorrow.

Nice haul! We're taking the father in law out tomorrow. I can only hope we have the same kind of day. Congrats!

Thanks for doing the report Adam. You give me way too much credit. I'm no Legend, just someone who's been around longer than most.

I just have to say once more, what a pleasure it is to deal with Taj. He is the best! For you guys who want to know things like where are the Perch, just book a trip with him. He will take you to them. This time of year the Perch are en route to their spawning grounds so any location information can be very time perishable. He keeps track of them. I was very surprised by where he took us.
