Drove up to south shore of Simcoe and it just didn't look right (snow covered ice looked too perfect, nice and inviting this late into the season - didn't feel good about it) so I decided to abandon those plans and just headed up to Cooch where I know the ice will be better and was it ever. Still tons of ice out there and my access point had great ice. About 4-6" of heavy packing snow on top but walking was easy. Fishing was horrible. 4 tiny perch, 1 pumpkinseed and a goby. But so glad to have been able to fish a day in April and it was pretty nice to be out there even though there was a little bit of wind. It's a wrap for me and all gear packed away already. My longest season of ice fishing (Dec. 11 to April 1). For those still going out, careful with the snow cover because you can't see the ice too well.
