Hey Everyone,

Looking to get out later this week to fish the Grand. Has anyone had any success with crappie in this river?

I have never targeted this species here and I am wondering if they are lurking around?

Not looking for locations, just feedback!

Thanks

Loads of crappie in the spring. Look for areas that warm up early or breaks and eddys near high current areas.

Thanks Slab! I fish anywhere down from the Caledonia Dam and down (York, Cayuga, etc). I know that crappie are in the grand, but I haven't been fortunate enough to catch any.

Again, not looking for spots, just curious if anyone has had success in the river. If so, any baits you would recommend?

I have targeted and caught them in the grand, small tubes under a float work well, Usually not till later in May, after the Spawn once the river settles and warms though.

x2 on that......altho I haven't bothered with them for some years.....just so many other fish to get at that time of year and I try and avoid areas with crowds if possible
