How deep you say? Here is a white fish losing interest at 106 fow at K-bay

Looks good. Was that your bait at 102ish? What transducer did you have on it (the one that comes with it or did you get another transducer?). And do you know what that blue band is at the 87ish mark?

I didn’t use the stock transducer, I used the garmin ice transducer. 102 was my vibrato, Whittie came to look but went back down.

Okay thanks. Yes, supposedly getting another transducer will help. Do you remember how much you paid for the iceducer and where you bought it? Just want to know if the unit is worth getting price-wise if I had to buy another transducer for it.

Bought online for around $100. If you fish less than 75 fow, I think normal transducer will work fine. I only got the ice ducer because I fish deep water a lot.

Got mine in the fall on sale. It was under $100 but cant remember exactly. Works great. Just wait for it to go on sale. Shipping is quick.

I use a regular 200khz transducer with my Hummingbird when ice fishing. I fished 90' water with no problem as long as the transducer is aimed straight down. I see no reason why a regular transducer not to work in deep water during ice fishing as the same transducer is used when trolling for salmon over 100+ FOW. The power of the fish finder is more important in determining the maximum fishable depth as a 200Khz transducer can be used in depths up to 200'.

I thought the actual Xducers were more or less the same but their housings are different, of course.

That's exactly it.

I was told that certain transducers are much better than others. But I guess it really depends on whether or not the ice fishing on Simcoe will be pushing the standard transducer to its limit or not. If I get the unit, I can always just use the transducer that comes with it and see how it performs before I look for another transducer.
