Hut rentals pricing per person?

I think hut rentals are too expensive at $60 Perch/$70 LT-WF and as such I don't rent them.

What's the price per person 8am-4pm for LT/WF (All Inclusive) for you to rent one? For me, max is $35 per person.

$40 would be my max for renting, and only in very specific circumstances, like if I'm learning how to fish for a certain species. I found hut rentals would cost me WAY more than just buying the equipment I needed to go out on my own. May be a lot to put out at once but will save me tonnes of dough in the long run. AND I can fish in my choice of locations, and not have to worry about drunken idiots dropping all kinds of stuff under the permanent huts. I think I've been out 10 times this year alone. At a minimum of $80 bucks a time to rent, my expensive gear is paying for itself.

I go with hut rentals when it is too cold and there is brutal wind at the same time, like once per winter on average. In this case it is just not possible for me to set up my pop-up hut (if I don't want my hut to become a kite flying high in the sky and landing on the other side of the lake for someone to collect as freebie:-)

But yes, I say $50/day per adult for perching or $65 (or even $70)/day per adult for laker/whitefish fishing is a bit on the expensive side in my book. Though I can once in a while "swallow" such a cost for just myself (one person alone). I mean like I know a buddy's family of four last weekend went ice fishing for perch with a hut rental operator on Cook's Bay, and it cost the family $200 dollars, and the four together landed a grand total of 3 keeper perch:-)

I'm renting a hut for the first time ever next week over the March Break. Always gone out on my own but my brother in-law and I are taking the boys out for their first experience so we would rather not mess around. Its most likely going to be pretty sloppy out their next week with the mild temps so its nice to get driven out all together with everything all ready for you.

I personally have never rented but I say it all depends on the amount of ppl, charging $60per and jamming 4peps in one rental, the renter is making a killing. $60 if your buy yourself but should be reduced if you fill the hut like 4 ppl $40ea

Supply and Demand. With Simcoe being so close to such a large population, I'am surprised the renters don't charge more, especially on the weekends.

I think the hut rental business is going to go the same way as bait shops with live bait. People will complain at any increases and they will either have to charge more or go out of business. I think it’s a lot as well, but when you look at what they go through and no guarantees on how long there season is they need to make a living. If they provide transportation, minnows and heat, $40-$60 a head is fair. I’m sure hut operators don’t like paying what I would charge for concrete, or another for a furnace or a car or whatever anyone else’s job is, but if they want that service they pay. It’s a relatively short window of time for them to make money each season. Not a job or business I would want! Much respect to those that do it well. And to those that don’t, they will go the way of the dodo. Just my opinion.

Best bet go out your self if you have the gear. If you know where easy parking is with good lake access your bound to catch some perch anyways. Nothing against hut ops but I have rented from several different ones and I always have my best luck going out on my own.

You've got some good points there. The hut rental guys do a great job in difficult circumstances, and with uncooperative weather (Not to mention people making their lives difficult. Look at Casey's huts having their propane tanks stolen). I just prefer to put in a little effort, and/or spend my money on things I will keep and be able to use ad infinitum. Much respect to those who run these operations.

I myself have only been out twice with an operator in my life. -40 type days howling wind. Took the kid and father in law out.$125. Hell its almost a hundred bucks to go the movies with four people for less than two hours. The rest of the time I am a walker and out exploring with all my own gear. But it’s nice they are there as a comfortable back up. I get out on average 2 dozen times a season so it would get pricey quickly for me. And I like going around little to no people.

I think you forget the fun u have with the people in the hut. The work and time that they spend on providing good huts and fishing locations. I think that the $40 is a more reasonable rate, Hope it doesn't increase over that.

x2 those guys work hard for that little money for a short time, i have no problem paying 50-70 for a full on service. i charge that to go to your house and look at your furnace and then the charge to fix it i wouldn't want that job as Dave said tough cold job on top of putting up with peoples bull s**t Imo

$40 for me. So far every time I go out I take a large group with me from work and we don’t catch any keepers. So I think $40 is most I want to pay for this going forward
