Lower Niagara

Hello Folks .I was thinking of fishing the river in the morning and was wondering if the rain we've had today would muddy the river up to much or just make it murky. I've had very little time to fish lately and am pumped to go but don't want to drive 3 hrs to find it's a wasted trip. Thank you in advance for your input.

Hey guys. So i have lived in St. Catharines pretty much my entire life and have barely fished the niagara. Only recently in the last two or so years have i throwing whatever just to see what hits gotten bass pike catfish and pickerel in the passed. But i would really like to start fishing the niagara for what its famous for. So ill be heading down today just a couple general questions. I only really see guys fishing the whirlpool area when im down there has anyone had any luck in other spots and on the canadian side (from shore) or is the pool the go to? Being new to this i am curious as to if spoons, spinners, swim jigs work year round or only at specfic times? Lastly can someone please teach me everything they know for the price of a couple coffees? Kk. Lol have fun play safe.

I have fished all over the river. But only see guys fishing the whirlpool. There are so many pool and slack water points ive looked at and thought "that looks trouty why is no one here". So we'll see what today brings. Thanks for the definative answer about that though.

My biggest concern is my safety so you won't see me fishing those stretches that no one fishes. Worst case scenario is you slip and fall into the river and no one is around to help you. No fish is worth your life. If you do venture out to those area make sure you're extra cautious and have a buddy fishing with you

then try Queenston...….always people there


and that is also why I did not mention any other locations, you need to take the time and explore with a buddy....water goes up and down in minutes on the lower river, safety first

Well i was down yesterday and started at the whirlpool and fished north from there. Nothing happening but still getting adjusted to that kind of fishing so i wouldnt call it a total bust. Ended up sneaking up on (got about 25-30 yards away) four deer which was fun. Gotta love camo clothing. River was super clear. Ended up leaving with more questions than answers but I'm thinking of trying again sunday but going south from the whirlpool this time and seeing what happens.

Going south maybe would be ok but I would suggest going north . Due to fresh fish moving in at this time of year. Good luck .

I travel to Buffalo frequently, and I'm always seeing boats out in the middle of the river north of the Q-L bridge. Of course, it's waaaay too far for me to tell if they are having any success!

Lots and lots of fish in the drifts in the lower. Fished it Sat, think we landed a dozen or so. Mostly nice sized steel. Definitely don't have to be up in the whirlpool this time of year. Bar has been very good for browns the past few weeks.
