Snakeheads are very similar skeletally to bowfin, but they dont have the circular mark by the tail fin like this fish does. They also have a very long anal fin, this fish does not. There's also been no confirmed snakeheads in Ontario, if this was a snakehead i think the MNR would be very interested in hearing about it, so you might want to get in touch with them if unsure.
Its a bowfin (salmonids have very sharp tail fin edges, this fish has a rounded tail fin).

Must be a bowfin.... Any other fish and the birds and animals would have picked it clean... Even snakehead I hear are delicious. Seagulls won't even touch a bowfin
