> Smelts, Where to catch smelt

We don't get them like we used to either at the St. Clair River which empties water from Lake Huron into Lake St. Clair. The local bait shop usedto go out and get a trailer full of the smelt then in the morning, let the fishermen come and get them with a 5 gallon pail, first come first serve. Now, the limit on smelt here is a 2 gallon pail, and it is hard to get your limit at all. It's because of the lakers and the steelhead that were planted in Lake Huron.

Last time I checked Lake trout are native to the great lakes.
