Arrived here late morning. Boat started fine and ran like a champ. The crossing was uneventful. We saw no ice, and very little debris on the water. That does not mean there isn't still lots of it out there. There are a few pretty big ice pushes on the Thorah shore in much the same places as last year. By mid afternoon the boys had commissioned the water system such that we had hot and cold running water. Good job well done. During the afternoon the wind, which had been easterly, went westerly and we started seeing ever increasing numbers of bergey bits pass by out front. By about seven PM they became a continuous string. This first pic was taken normally; the second was at 12X Zoom. Notwithstanding our uneventful crossing, anyone who chooses to go on the water at this time of year should proceed slowly and with a sharp lookout. Unfortunately there will still be some nasty stuff out there.
