Turned out I ended up with a solo day on GB for salmon ,
The weather man called for light to no winds , guess what they were wrong ..
Hit the water early but the fog kept me close to home , not keen on getting hit by a boat under power ,not my time to go just yet , got 3 in close ..
Was a day of kamakazi young salmon , they were every where , running small body baits , speed " SLOW" ..
Went 10 for 11 , 2 keepers and three small fish that destroyed their working parts , released 5 that were lightly hooked , Lost a brute at the boat after a long battle only to cross the down rigger cable ..Gone ..Also lost a herby and release due to my not checking the kinks in cable ..costly mistake ..
All in all a good day , lots of action even if small , those little guys I brought home will be a nice feed for ma fisher and myself , perfect two person fish ....
Pix of the " mighty Minnow"..She's not pretty , she's under powered and over loaded ..

Sounds like a win for me. Some nice looking fish and better storys! Only one salmon on the boat so far this year and I wish I could find more.
I skipped out from work early because of the amazing weather forecast only to discover they lied out here in Cwood too. Not bad weather at all but they made it sound like perfection.
The minnow totally looks like my ride if you took it and upgraded it. I'm about to get my first down rigger, would you change anything about the way you have em mounted?

I mount my riggers and graph on a piece of 6x6 and bolt it down through the oar locks ..reason ..If I want to put it on another boat or friends just undo the tie down bolts and your rigging .. Have to get my house keeping in order , all the stuff under foot is an issue when into a big fish ..
Hey, Ive got a walker electric for sale , see in buy &sell..

Well done!! I have a very similar set-up - a 14 foot wide-body Starcraft with a 20 hp Yamaha. It doesn't seem that long ago that the majority of early spring trollers were using the same set-up. I'll see if I can locate a picture of my tinny as it is rigged somewhat differently to allow easy movement around the two riggers so you can move safely from stern to bow. Another addition I made to mine was to add thick rubber floor mats to the floor space between the seats. These provide great traction on those days when the floor gets slimed up and they really hold their positions solidly due to a cupped design. I'm not as agile as I used to be so every little safety addition helps to create peace of mind. The comment concerning fog produced a chuckle. I got caught in heavy fog in the little boat out of Owen Sound several springs ago. My partner for the day is a character who said not to worry because he was a master of a Newfy Fog dance and would take us right back in to the old Motorola launch ramp. I had visions of ending up at Griffith Island as visibility was less than fifteen feet. Norm rose, did a jig and pointed confidently to the right. The graph showed slow movement into shallower water so I felt we were at least moving shoreward. The salmon were being overly cooperative and we'd end up all turned around while landing fish. The Newfy Fog Jig was repeated a few times before I became overly suspicious. I finally stood right up and immediately understood the gales of laughter coming from the front of the boat. The fog was only a layer about five feet high!! Stand up and you enjoyed unlimited visibility. God love the Newfs and their crazy sense of humour!

A buddy has virtually the same outfit/set up. The cross member that holds the downriggers supports to the "strength" of the hull when rigging - holding the gunnels in place and reducing added torque. He also added storage under this board. A simple "cabinet" drawer that ran the length of the mounting board with a couple sliding openings (~10" tall). It's amazing all the little things that found their new home -- and out of the weather (extra clips, knife, pliers, scents, etc.,..... even his wallet and boat papers).
When at home, he'd lift this mounting board and store in the garage for safety. Worked well.
