We are heading up to Point Aux Baril for a few days fishing. I have only fished it in the summer. Does anyone know how the pickerel and pike fishing is there in the spring?.

I know a guy that's been up there for the past week. Fishing hasn't been very good. Water temps are still really really low. Goodluck!

We were fishing for northern pike around Franklin Island, about 20 km south of Pointe Au Baril last week. Water temps were 45-50 F.
Mostly fishing Rapala Husky Jerks. Fire tiger in stained water and gold in less stained water, and perch in clear.
Mostly fishing structure in flats. We had to fish very slow retrieve. We didn't catch a lot of pike (maybe 15-20 in 4 days out, 2-4 hours a day), but what we did catch were mostly in the 24-30 inch size range. They hit really soft.
When we hooked smallies, they hit much harder!

Thanks Wade. Great report. I have fished Franklin Island in the summer. There used to be some dandy pike in that area.
