Thank-you everyone.. I am already missing it.. I will still go out for residents once I clear up some time, so more browns and spotted rainbows hopefully coming soon. Maybe even a few specks. I will try..
Also, I did look at the gills of steelhead for gill lice infestations, and yes, most fish had them. The smaller fish 1-2 lbs, were clean, no lice. But lots of fish bwt 4-7 lbs had varied degrees of infestation. I did not see any fish with severe infestation, they had low to medium lice numbers..
Also I noticed some fish with short gill plates, not sure if it's a birth defect or just damage. But it's the gill plate that doesn't cover the gills completely.
Not that many lamprey marks at all.. You can see a couple in some pics. I would say 5-10% of steelhead caught had lamprey scars. See below a pic of a steelhead with a healed lamprey scar
