It would really depend on what your intended target species is? I started off with a leisure fishing kayak but quickly realized I could not deck it out like a bass boat lol.
I now have 2 Hobie Pro Anglers. A 14' and a 12'. Both are work horses and can support a massive amount of weight. A trolling motor on these is not out of the question at all. Mine have both bow and stern mounting plates and options. (Bow mount in pic) The plate on the back can support up to a 9HP gas motor or any electric.
Extremely dependable and I trust these with my life while out in the middle of Lake Ontario trolling around for salmon
