I have been quite busy fishing this May and June and did not post much on the forum, but recently I have reached a personal milestone by catching my 100th pike so far this open water season so I decided to take a little breather.

I have quite a few good trips this season but one day in June stands out when my buddy and I caught 45 pikes in one day of fishing, so I decided to make a short slide show to commemorate that day.

The weather that day was pike perfect – overcast with light wind, water temperature was 17C and weeds have just started to rise from the bottom. The pike was hungry and was hitting pretty much everything thrown in the water but deeper diving jerkbaits getting down to 6-7 FOW were the most productive. The pike were of different sizes, but nothing bigger than 5 pounds.

We had quite a casting marathon that day and fished for about 14 hours from 6 am to 8 pm , so at the end of the day we can barely hold the rods and were quite exhausted but happy.

Between 11 am and 3 pm there was a slowdown as the sun came out of the clouds and it become hotter but then after 3-4 pm the bite has resumed.

We did not take many pictures as the fish kept us busy and we were just enjoying the good fishing but still managed to make a few for the day’s memory. In addition to pike we also caught 6 bullheads, 1 walleye and 1 large crappie that day, all on jerkbaits/spoons when fishing for pike.

The lake we were fishing is fairly known lake in central Ontario which gets quite a bit of fishing pressure so I chose not to mention it’s name.

Overall this season many people that I know are enjoying good pike fishing as the spring was cold and the weed growth is about two weeks behind the schedule.

Have a great season everyone!

Great slide show, some interesting looking jerkbaits there. That bullhead looks huge for its species, thanks for sharing
