Make it high enough to actually deter this ongoing problem, deportation, etc... Also punish the buyers with the same fines. I'm sure they are only catching the very tip of the ice berg... Just think they stopped 2500 kg of Live Asian carp, I would gamble more than triple that enters our country every day undetected... If not more...

dam disgusting!!!!!! as I said before our justice system is a joke at all levels. This wont be taken as serious as it should until it costs a fortune to fix or even more likely until its too late. Personally I think Canada and the States should grow some balls and nail the people on both ends of business....importers and exporters,,,,, this is our ecosystem for god sakes,,, whats the matter with people, and all for the love of money?????? I dont understand it. WallyDiver,,, as for who`s eating this crap, or carp I mean,, I`m not sure, but I think.... the ones who eat this stuff could be anyone of course, but likely the largest demand come from the same people that export the fish.,,, but I could be wrong. Reality is though,, there is nothing wrong with eating them (although I wouldnt), its the idiots that put them in the water (and I know Wally, you know that) Unfortunately, it should be that if you want to eat this fish, go back to where they come from and eat it. This is Canada and Asian Carp isn't needed here, especially with the risk of people putting them in our waters!!

Hi; Dont know the answer ..BUT, At present there are 100s of thousands of pounds of asian carp sold in southern Ontario every year If you call our MNR or other governing bodies you will find it is perfectly "LEGAL" to sell "DEAD" asian carp....How to stop the sale of dead or alive ??? Hope we dont find the answer when it's too late !!

Very bad. If people are eating them dead or alive cant the eggs get in our water and then we'll have carp? The smelt spread in our waters like that.
