After last weeks “1/2 hour of awesomeness”, I decided to get back out there with the kid this time. Weather was perfect, just a slight breeze, and the bass were cooperating.
We spent about 4 hours hopping from one deep hump to another, hit about 6 in total that topped off at anywhere from 22’ to 35’ deep, surrounded by deeper water.
Every spot we hit had fish, lots in the 1-2lb range, and several up to just over 4lbs. We lost a couple big ones that just peeled line off our drop shot rods, which may have been pike, but I’m pretty sure by the way they fought that they were just big fat smallmouth.
Water was about 53 deg, plenty of time left yet to get out again, and I’m sure as it cools, there will only be more fish stacked up on these deeper spots.
Everyone got a pic taken and went back in the drink.
