These past 3 weeks, I've been out on area lakes several times and haven't done so well. Most of the bass I've caught were under 12", and it's taken me a long time to even locate them With only a few hours available for fishing yesterday, I spent 3 hours on one of my favorite lakes. After studying the water clarity and temp, I picked one of my old spots to start the hunt. I managed to boat 6 smallmouth, most above 2lb. What surprised me the most was a smallmouth that attacked my topwater plug in the middle of the day. She hit with only about 8' of line left off the tip of the rod (never stop working your lure!!!). After a pic and checking the weight (4.75lb), she swam off quite nicely. I've still got it!!!!!

Nice to see your hard work payed off. Nice smallie. It's tough to find them this time of year but when you find them, they can definitely put the smiles back on your face!

Thanks guys. The crazy thing though....I only used about 2 cups of fuel to get to my spot from the ramp. Getting back there is going to have to wait though, after I get back from exploring the Thousand Islands area of the St. Lawrence next week.
