A few weeks ago my brother and I got out to some deeper water and we caught a few ling and a whitefish. I know whitefish are very popular game on Simcoe but on Nipissing people don't really target them. Does anyone out there go after them here?

Actually caught your vidio's on you tube earlier.Nice feeling when you actually get some weight and fight on your line.My brother had a knack to catching whities.I think he use to flop a spoon right on the bottom. The Ling may be ugly but they do taste good and no bones to worries about.

Don't really target the whities but they can be a challenge to get topside if you hook into them. We just release them when we catch them but we have started keeping the burbot we have been catching if they are a decent size now that we know how tasty they are.

I've heard of a few people that have targeted them in the past on Nip. I have tried ling before and they are very tasty. It's been a while though.

This whitey was definitely a solid fish to fight. I usually get into a ling or two a year in my back yard but this spot we were at there were quite a few around it seemed.

I’ve been doing Nipissing for 20 years now. I’ve only seen one ling and one whitefish. In fact I think it’s been long before my cell phone. I’m sure I have a photo of both somewhere. I know the ling was caught on a dead stick line around 10 pm. The whitefish on a tip-up before lunch. Neither was caught by me. Very impressive whitie Koke.
