Ever think about going to one of these types instead of a baitcaster.  There are different models available, I like the free fall feature and use light mono, I'm not a fan of flouro.

would look kinda funny sitting on top of a baitcast rod and have to reel backwards.

Oh, no doubt but I see it again and again with the old closed face reels.
