Work has slowed up a bit this week so I decided to go steelheading today. The weather was beautiful with sunny skies and calm winds. With tomorrow’s forecast showing heavy rain and wind it was an easy decision.
I was strictly throwing lures today as I didn’t have any spawn. It took a couple hours to hook the first one on a Cleo...red and gold. It was a 6 pound male and bright silver.
As the day wore on the fishing got better with more people hooking fish. I think the water warmed a couple degrees and either brought them in or flipped their internal switch.
I hooked a female in the tail fin that took me for quite a ride down the river. She was close to 10 pounds.
A couple more males rounded out today’s fun...all fish were bolt silver.
I kept a second male destined for the smoker.
Sorry the pictures aren’t better as I didn’t have a camera or phone with me so I took a couple at home.
