Every year in late fall I fish Lake Ontario bays from shore around Toronto for pike and this year was no exception.

I have an office job so I like to shake it up and get the blood flowing so I do some street fishing as I sit too much in the office, in the car, in the boat.

I went a few times with some success and fished a variety of spots: some marinas, Tommy Thompson park and Toronto Islands.

A few fish were caught with 3 nice ones: a 7 and 10-11 pounder and a 16 pounder (estimated, as all fish was successfully released).

I mainly used twitching of suspending jerkbaits in 4.5-6 inch size range with long pauses in between the jerks. The fish is definitely there but very sluggish and requires lots of coaxing and patience.

A 10-11 pounder...

Great stuff there.

I am not saying where but a friend and I found a warm water outflow that was 52 f. We were going to fish for pan fish but kept getting bit off. We switched rods and baits as we knew they were Pike. We ended up getting nothing over 5-6 lbs but we landed over 80 of them in one day. We had several fish chasing at once every cast and to many double headers to count. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. All day we watched the water boil around us as they chased bait. It was wild.

80 pikes in one day is crazy! I'll take fishing for pike over pan fish any day

Well done! I love fishing the islands early and late in the season. Like you said, it's so nice being over there and not seeing the crowds.

Great way to end the open water season.

Thank you, guys.
I also only fish those areas and also Frenchman's Bay early and late in the season not only because of the summer crowds and watercraft traffic but mainly because the larger pike moves out to the deeper waters.
