Went to one of the larger lakes in Kinmount yesterday. Where we started had good 8" of ice (black), when we got to the main area of the lake went down to about 6"(still good ice), and we tried to go across the main area but water starting coming up through the snow and we quickly turned around, didnt check depth there but It felt soft.

We have floater suits, but still dont want to get wet. Might have just hit a current area, but we werent near any dams or anything, so not sure. Theres a very obvious pressure crack, and on one side seems to be good ice, the other side not good ice.

Hope this helps
