7 of us stayed with South Shore Ice Condos for the first time Jan 3-5th and what an awesome time! We already booked in for next year! All the hosts were great and were always around for bait and any other needs, the condos were clean and well set up with everything you could need and everything was just well organized from start to finish!

The fishing was great the walleye were steady all weekend we honestly lost count by the end. We ended up with 3 keepers. 2 18.5" and a 20". Also landed 2 pike a 34" and a 30", 2 whitefish, 1 ciscoe, 1 burbot a few perch and of course a mud puppy. We mostly jigged inside the huts and used tip ups outside, the fishing was steady so there was no need to travel.

If your looking for a great ice fishing trip I would definatly recomend these guys! Top Notch!!

Awesome report! Congrats! How did you get the multi-species action? We always catch herring but we've never been able to hook a ling or whitefish.

Paddy we hooked the burbot early morning on a tip up that was rigged with a jig and a shiner just off bottom it was the first one iv ever caught, and the whitefish came while jigging for walleye. They were all surprise catches.

Sounds like a great couple of days with a good variety of fish caught, one of the reasons why I love fishing Nipissing.....you never know what you might hook into.
Good move booking for next year in advance, we do the same every year as well.

Thanks for the report FisherZ!

7 of us (including Fishberg) are heading up Friday the 10th for the 3rd year on Nip. First year with SSIC and haven't heard one bad thing about the outfitter so getting pretty pumped!

Do you have any proof of the keepers and pike?

Good to get in early and book every year!

Heres the 34" pike. It was caught on a tip up with a quick strike rig and a 7 inch sucker minnow. 25 feet of water 6 feet off bottom.

The 30" pike I got jigging for walleye with a green buckshot. It came in on my screen quick and smashed it and also grabbed my buddies jig. We thought we had a double header for a bit untill we realized we were fighting the same fish and he was peeling line off both our rods.

Going up this weekend, just wanted to know if there was a difference in depth outside the hut to inside.
Certain times the bite was hot?
Looks like you had a great weekend.
Also did you get those 7" suckers on the way up to the operator?
Thanks

Hey HardHookSet they had us set up on the edge of a hump the hut was in about 24ft of water and the top of the shoal came up to 6ft. In the huts the bite was really hot in the morning starting around 7:30 8ish and seemed to hang on good untill almost noon. it would start picking up again around 3pm and go steady untill just after dark. After dark you can try fishing shallower in about 15 feet of water as the walleye will move up shallower on the shoals. Hope that helps Good Luck on your trip!
