The only thing I would mention with regards to this is that I also fish 12 mile bay for pike in May and last season was noticeably slow comparing to the previous one. Not sure why.. As for Point au Baril I would expect exceptional pike fishing there, but for me it's too far to go. I was actually planning last year but that did not happen...

I have caught pike from Bayfield river before. Go waaay up river though. Like Seaforth area. Minnows in the deep pockets are deadly. As the water clears up they become quite visible.

I am referring to Bayfield river that flows into S Lake Huron (Between Goderich and Grand Bend).. I have personally never caught anything over 30" there but have seen em. I was float fishing one day and seen a tank. I threw everything in my steelie arsenal at it but could not get it to bat an eye.
