up north fishing with two good friends , first outing for me this year. things started bad right from buddys driveway, my trailer lights did not work properly with no running lights and a hour and a half drive in the dark. made it safely off the main road onto the secondary road when my buddy stops his truck and walks back to mine to tell me he had forgot one pail of minnows. we had a dozen in another pail ,not many for 3 guys. away we go off the secondary road onto an active logging road. about 5km in afully loaded log truck comes around the bend forcing us to the shoulder. i got a little too far over and into the ditch i go truck and trailer stuck. the bank looked solid but under it was a deep ditch. luckily after unhooking the trailer i had a tow strap with me and after a bit of work my buddy pulls me out. off we go to a parking place we have used many times only to find out it hasnt been plowed this year.so we had to park on the side of the road trying to leave enough room for log trucks .finally get unloaded and off we go to our second choice of lakes. crossed 3 thawed creeks no problem 4th thawed creek big problem. 3 60 something guys decided it would not be fun to get stuck in a five foot gully in running water so we turn around and off to lake number two.things improved after that we only had time left for a couple hours fishing before we had to pack up and head home. managed to catch a couple nice splake.day two went a whole lot better stayed a little closer to home different lake and landed 4 fish with a few missed as well. cant wait to do it again

Sounds like a few buddies got out for a wild goose chase adventure !! If that were my crew of buddies, I could only imagine how many "F bombs" those backroads would have heard lol
Glad that you at least got into a few & great to see some beauty fish pics.

Not just a trip it's an adventure....lol. Sounds like a lot of work but I am sure you will always get a good laugh about it all when you look back and you caught a few to prove it was all worth it.

murphy was sure working overtime the first day. lots of f bombs that day for sure. the first lake we tried to reach is a real jewel , full of lakers and big pike.it has very little fishing pressure, only a few locals know the way in. driving on those logging roads can be scary. those truckers rarely slow down, not one seemed to care we were stuck.a long day but worth the effort.we will try again later in the season for sure.
