For walleye, fishing is tough unless you are fishing the prime time from 3:30-6:30pm and later into dark if its a full moon. I've had my limit within an hour right at 5pm. about 14 fow.
Best Laker bite for me is 10am-2pm .... find your own spot away from crowds... very important. dont fish too deep for lakers... many people have a 60fow rule (maybe for the average thermocline depth for summer?). ...if you are in a smaller lake for lakers, try 15-35fow. They arent always feeding on minnows... try some smaller white or pink tubejigs if they seem finnicky on the spoons and set lines. Also, vary the size of your bait/lure if they are on the graph but not interested. If they are in the chasing mood, they are hungry, just switch up your lures... when they are chasing, smaller vibratos work nice... I like gold. You should be able to go out for 2 hours and come back with a limit of lakers.... there are lots. Stay away from crowds. Spread out your lines if you are fishing with friends.
It is ok to get skunked every so often. Especially when searching for new territory. Happens to us all but certainly not the norm. Good luck!
