Hi all,
I'm curious about what's happening with ice fishing updates on Kawartha Lakes; Sturgeon, Pigeon, Chemong, Scogog, etc. Has anyone been fishing them in past week or two?
I am heading to Sturgeon this weekend and am curious with any activity up there.

Can't give you much info on Pigeon at the moment. There's a great thread a few clicks down called Chemong Ice that pretty well answers your questions about that lake

Fishing Rice this weekend and post back how we did. Only ice fished Rice one time, so will be interesting. Hoping the fish don’t shut down, because of the big cold front.
Also, fishing by Elmhirst, which is a new area of Rice for me. If anyone ever ice fished that area and have suggestions, that would be great!

Thank you for the updates - we are on our way to Sturgeon Lake from Hamilton now (airbnb rental - close to Ancona Pt.). I will add to this post as the weekend progresses.

I have been fishing Sturgeon since before Xmas. Fished both sides of the lake, South from Long Beach Marina across to Pleasant Point. Lots of ice everywhere I have been in these areas. Fishing has been OK. Some perch and incidental walleye (they are closed here). Took us a long time to get on the gills because we were targeting the deeper areas. Decided to move into 5 feet of water and it made a huge difference. Good luck..

Right on fishi.n. I’m heading out this weekend. Was gonna target them deep. I’ll try a little shallower. Had a really good blue gill day on a kawartha look in 6-9 feet. Will try again 👍🏻

I was by Sturgeon on Wednesday, very poor ice from Birch Point to Bobcaygeon and at the bridge on Cty. Rd. 24 over Emily Creek. Best to avoid those areas if you're out and about, there is a few huts off Cedar Glen and I have seen people fishing when driving over the bridge I just mentioned over at the point of land you can see to the north west across the bay where Emily flows in to Sturgeon.

Hey be careful down by elmhirst’s resort. My buddy just got his hut out from serpent mounds feb 1st finally and said he was only on 10” of ice and there was open water east of there still (towards elmhirst’s). Don’t go just flying out down there. I’d treat it like early ice still cuz it’s probably froze over now 2 weeks later and won’t be very thick yet in places.
