Hey guys?
I was just curious if its possible to access the ice huts by foot. I've been on nipissing before with South river. I assume most of the operators are in the same general area. Are there plowed roads on the ice? is it a far walk to get out there?
We have a guy that might be coming later than the operatro is willing to drive out for. just wanna make sure its possible to walk in.

If the operator won't go out that late, your buddy definitely shouldn't try walking. That could have a tragic ending. Better to arrive early the next morning and catch the first transport out.

He’ll go out, just not in blizzard conditions lol.. can anyone comfirm If there is an “ice road” to the huts?
Your outfitter should be able to confirm if there is a road/ trail. After that, you’ll need a light or something for him to locate your position in a sea of huts.

you boys are probably right. I'll touch base with the operator when I get there and see what he says then. then let me buddy know whether or not to drive up after work or the next morning.

Perhaps make a post that you need a ride out to a hut, time and day and offer some cash up.. Maybe someone will help you out..Anyway it can't hurt.. Good luck..

There are roads that go out to the huts but you need to know what huts you are looking for and you will need to get off the road to get to them, no one sets up on the road for obvious reasons. We have had guys on sleds knock on our door at night that lost their way coming back out from just dropping someone off at shore, storms blow in fast and his visibility was nil on the return trip, it can happen that fast.....never mind that it could also be like minus 35 when he arrives.
