I have never considered catching Lake Ontario salmon thinking that they aren't the same as west coast salmon. Do they taste the same? I just love the west coast salmon. I posted this along with Long Shanks charter offer thinking I might take him up on it but I can't find it anywhere. What happened to it?
FYI, I too have had both West Coast Salmon and small to medium "Spring Silver" Chinooks and Coho's from Lake O and I think they are all delicious, just different. YMMV.

Could you guys, who tasted both and know the differences, elaborate a bit? What is the difference? I was always thinking that the more fatty is fish more tastier it is. However, I know that many depreciatingly refer lakers as "greasy". So what is the difference in taste between Pacific and Ontario salmon?

Having caught and eaten both my take is .. The spring Gb silver salmon are hard to beat But the west coast silvers have a different flavor due to diet , not sure how LO fish stack up but the GB and west cost silvers are both ..DELICIOUS..

It's still there......on this section . down a bit and in the sponsor forum
I answered you already, but didn,t want to get into a debate on west coast salmon vs great lakes salmon
I will just add this. I believe pacific wild salmon are richer in taste due to forage variety
great lakes salmon, .spring salmon are still quite good in my books, but each to their own
Example . I like Lake Superior salmon more than lake Ontario salmon, but that is not saying that the latter do not taste quite good
storage/transport and preparation all come into play
I won't eat big fall spawners as they area dying fish and have softer meat
all the above is very general and it comes down to personal choices
I have groups that don't keep any and others love every last piece

I will take this one strange turn father.
I have caught and eating Chinooks out in the Ocean and it was rich and delicious. Lake O chinook in spring are good but way milder and the bigger springs are not as good IMO from lake O. The Gbay smaller chrome fish I did eat was a summer fish. It was better than the lake O fish with richer flavour but less than that of the BC fish I ate in the summer.
As for Coho which are my favourite. The lake O Coho I like much better than the ones I have eaten in BC.i was surprised and find it Strange that it’s opposite for my pallet vs the Chinook.
I have never eaten a Superior Coho or Chinook but my friends say their Coho put the lake O Coho to shame on the plate. I guess I will have to make a trip and see for myself one day.
