Had a week off so headed north with my 13x8 foot thermal hut a cot and 5 full propane tanks. Sleeping on the ice for 6 nights lol and the weather looked good when I planned it. First day was on fire with 18 lakers landed all between 5-10 pounds and one ling. Then the cold front hit and hit hard going from -2 to - 26 over night with a day time high of -22. Well fishing slowed right down and would not get a good bit the rest of the trip with the coldest night at -37 it was a tough one lol. Still managed 4-7 lakers a day and size was but that first day wrecked it for me kept waiting for it to turn on like that again. The weather stayed weird warm then super cold and the bite reflected that but still a good time had a buddy stay tues till fri with me then my brother came down and stayed fri till Monday. Have done this a few times and this was by far the toughest one with the crazzy temps. We also got many ling at night all were around the same size 2-3 pounds and stayed Mobil with the flip over covered a lot of water

Wow! I did an overnight once and had the heat blasted. Was cold and it wasn’t even close to as cold as you had it. Hope you had you itch scratched with that outing. You also gave me an idea. If the wife says I can go fishing once a week.... I might just stay out the whole week! Lol

Ya I was ready for a shower and home did a coffee run the third night and got 4 extra large DD just threw them in a pot each day and heated them up they were blocks of ice but man the best coffee ever after a long day in -20 to-35 lol. My wife was super worried lol it was not supposed to be that cold when I planned it.the big buddy heaters are total garbage would just quit working in the middle of the night and the -37 night would not restart by the time I woke up I was freezing to death and it would not go. But I alway bring old reliable my old Colman stove saved the day for the second time on a over night trip fired right up. The big buddy even when it runs good still leaves 1/4 to 1/8 of each propane tank the Colman’s sucks every drop. Long story short I hate these buddy junkers nothing but problems

Sounds like a great trip and great fishing. Those old Coleman stoves just keep on working .I always had a coffee percolator on one burner. Nothing like fresh coffee. Great report!

Wow, well done. Sounds like an amazing trip!

I recently got a cot as well and really looking forward to doing an overnight. Are you concerned with carbon monoxide running the heater at night?
